Holiday Choices Made Easy
Mountains or Sea?
Or “surf and turf,” as they say.
Have it all in Hout Bay!
For many vacationers, the dilemma in vacation planning is: “Do you go to the beach or the mountains?” Look no further than Hout Bay. In Hout Bay, you can have the best of both worlds. If you are looking for activities near Cape Town, you can find them here. Fun for a day trip or weekend, but plenty to do and see for a more extended holiday.
I’ll have the turf.
Hout Bay is surrounded by the Atlantic ocean and majestic mountain ranges for landlubbers. There are activities and experiences for all.
Go hiking!
- The best trails start in Hout Bay Chapmans – Cape Peninsula for a 3.1-mile hike to the summit of Chapman’s Peak, a mountain most famous for its scenic toll road between Noordhoek and Hout Bay.
- Constantia Nek’s awe-inspiring 360° views of Hout Bay, Stop at the lovely De Villier’s Dam for a snack at the top!
- Oude Skip Hike can be as long or short a hike as you’d like. Sandy Bay shipwreck hiking trail shares portions of its hike with the larger Karbonkelberg Traverse, roughly seven hours of strenuous walk from Hout Bay harbour to Llandudno around the coast.
- Llandudno Ravines. The ravine leads up the 12 Apostles mountains, the peaks behind the iconic Table Mountain. Plan 4.5 hours to hike the trail. Once you get to the top, the panoramic views from the two vantage points are incredible.
- East Fort Hout Bay Trail to Skoorsteenberg past the old Manganese Mines from 1909, delivers stunning views on Hout Bay, trails leading caves and waterfalls. All for you to explore.
