Since 1972 the Atlantic Boat Club has made Hout Bay home. Founded by fishermen sitting around a bar in Camps Bay wondering where they could find a suitable place to launch their small crafts. Hout Bay Harbour was chosen because of the accessibility under a variety of weather conditions.
A small clubhouse was built on a vacant plot opposite the slipway. The clubhouse housed up to 100 members at any one time and became the heart of the offshore fishermen in Hout Bay.
In 1990, the members built a more extensive clubhouse. Membership had grown to over 400. They managed to secure a site on the water’s edge, opposite the old club. The new multi-story A-Frame was completed in 1992, with a marina so additional services became available.
Over the years, many changes have been made by upgrading the club.

Securing The Lookout Deck as an anchor tenant for the downstairs section was a significant achievement.  The Lookout Deck provides a unique destination point for tourists and locals alike.
The bar extensions and revamps provide all of our members with a clean and friendly atmosphere, together with fantastic views of the harbour and surrounding mountains.
As much as the Atlantic Boat Club is traditionally a boat angling club affiliated with the Western Province Deep Sea Angling Association, we not only accommodate anglers and boat owners but encourage social members to join and use the facility.
The perks one receives from being a member totally outweigh the minimal subscription levied each year.
