For the last 20 years, the Christodoulou family’s Ambeloui Wine Estate, tucked away deep in the Hout Bay valley have been producing a boutique, hand-made, and highly sought-after Methode Cap Classique sparkling wine. Attention and energy is on creating a high-quality wine. A wine we’re proud to drink it at the dinner table with friends and family. We invite you to do the same.
Our Wines
Our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines are in picturesque valley of Hout Bay, since 1995. Lavender and roses dating back to 1996, surround the house and wine production facility with maturation cellar.
The Ameloui wine estate produces only Methode Cap Classique, a bottle-fermented sparkling wine in the true Champagne tradition. We harvest and use our grapes at Ameloui wine estate. Other area vineyards of Hout Bay supply a portion of the grapes along the cool-weather areas of Elgin to ensure a delicious wine. Harvest takes place in late January and early February. The harvest is always at optimum berry maturity and balance. Our newest winemaker is Miranda, with Nick assisting her. Alfred with the wine cellar staff oversee production.
We use special hand-operated equipment imported from France and Italy. Riddling still takes place in traditional wooden riddling racks. We manage disgorgement is meticulously so you can enjoy the finest hand-crafted wines. In a typical year, 8000 bottles are produced at Ameloui and aged in our wine cellar, on the lees for 2 to 4 years.
Ambeloui is proud of its bubbly and as the label says
Enjoy every drop, because you never know if you will find another bottle.
